We find this deeply unsatisfying. Not only as designers, but as people who care about dogs, about homes, and about the world we share.

At the heart of every Amouri dog bed is a component-based construction. This means that the bed is not a single, sealed object — it is a considered assembly of individual parts, each of which can be replaced, refreshed or renewed independently, should it ever be needed.

The cover wears with time and use? Replace it. The inner cushion needs renewing after years of faithful service? It can be done. The oak frame remains — solid, oiled and enduring — while the softer elements around it can be cared for and updated without ever touching the structure that holds everything together.

This is not a small detail. It is a fundamental rethinking of what a dog bed can be.

The materials that make it possible

Longevity begins with what something is made from. Every Amouri dog bed is built on a frame of FSC-certified solid oak — a material chosen not for its visual warmth alone, but for its structural integrity and its ability to age gracefully rather than degrade. Properly oiled and cared for, solid oak does not weaken. It deepens.

The fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified — selected for their quality, their comfort and their resistance to the kind of daily wear that a dog bed inevitably encounters. Both the cover and the inner cushion are finished with non-slip backing, holding each layer quietly in place without any need for intervention. The cover is fully removable and washable, making care straightforward without interrupting the aesthetics of the bed.

Sustainability as intention, not statement

We do not believe in sustainability as a marketing claim. We believe in it as a practice — one that begins at the design stage, long before a single piece of material is cut.

When something is built to last, the environmental argument largely makes itself. Fewer replacements. Less waste. Less consumption. A product that remains in the home, valued and maintained, rather than ending up in landfill after a season or two.

But there is something more than the purely rational calculation. There is a philosophy here about the relationship between people, objects and time. The things we choose to keep — the chair that has been reupholstered, the table that has moved between three homes, the lamp still standing decades after it was made — these objects hold meaning precisely because they were worthy of it.
